Cindy and I arrived in Bucharest last evening in time to be transported to Holy Trinity Church to hear Brother Paul preach. The picture reminded me of the awakenings that I have read about in church history as the building was packed and overflowing with people. The expectation to hear from God was seen and felt as students lined the walls of the church as there was no room for them to sit.

Because there were so many people there who were not Christians, Paul gave a simple, yet powerful, presentation of the gospel of Christ. Then he spoke on the subject of marriage that confronted the deficiency of love in most men toward their wives. The presentation was rich, and I believe, very effective.

Following the service many students came for counsel, testimony or instruction. The dialogue revealed both conviction and a depth of knowledge that is seldom seen in college students. It is very obvious that our HeartCry student missionaries have had a great impact on the college campuses.

Special Prayer Alert for Christians in Moldova | Print |

The outcome of recent elections in Moldova have provoked political and social upheaval as the Communist Party has returned to power. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8018017.stm / (external BBC site link).

One of our Christian friends has informed us that many young people have been beaten up and killed by police. She shared a brief update via email with us to her own peril as the government has declared that those who discuss or criticize the Communist Party to outsiders will be captured and punished. Presently, the borders have been closed to any citizens who wish to leave the country.

Please pray for the safety of our Christian brothers and sisters, and their families, in Moldova as they live under the new Communist regime. Also, pray that their national crisis would turn out to the furtherance of the Gospel.
