The following is a prayer request from the Reece's in Zambia.
Hello Brothers,
Sean and I are headed back to the villages today to meet with the "Royal Establishment." The purpose of this meeting is to get final approval for us to live and build on the land in Ilwendo Village. This meeting is critical as far as our work here is concerned. Would you please be praying for us the next three days? Especially on Wednesday, the day we have our meeting. I have been comforted lately by Psalm 138:8. David says, "for He will fulfill His purpose for me." I came across the same text two days later in Morning and Evening.  Spurgeon says it like this, "He will perfect that which concerns me." Let's pray with expectation, by faith, that the Lord WILL accomplish His purpose in this for the sake of His own reputation. Your Brother, Shannon |

Dear family and friends,
Greetings to all of you as we approach the end of our second week in Zambia. I've gone back and forth on whether to tell the whole story of our trip from South Africa to Zambia. But since we are "crash dummies" for HeartCry cross-cultural missions, Dr. Berry encouraged me to tell the story and the lessons learned. It's not a short story, so feel free to skip or skim as you like.
We arrived in Potchefstroom, South Africa the third week of April, anxious to get to Zambia, get settled, and get to work. Our gracious host, the Fuller family, was swamped with preparations to take a large group to a Christian men's conference. Poor Sidney was under great pressure to get the men's group ready while also helping us with final preparations. Each day new problems with the vehicles surfaced as the clock ticked down to our joint departure date on Wednesday April 22 - Sidney to the conference and us to Zambia.
Perhaps it was a sign of things to come that on Tuesday evening, as we tried to pack and load the vehicles, a strong thunderstorm struck and poured rain until after dark. Thus we had to finish loading on Wednesday morning and started the journey behind schedule.

Greetings in the wonderful Name of our all-sufficient Savior! It seems hard to believe that I'm emailing from Livingstone, Zambia as a legal resident! I wish I was emailing from home and had time to tell you our crazy story of the past week, but we're at a wi-fi hotspot and just have time for a quick update. The drive up from South Africa was full of disappointment and frustration - breakdowns, delays, blown tires, and long exhausting days. We arrived in Livingstone Monday after a full day trying to clear our vehicles through the border post and being cheated by one of the offices there. The next morning our vehicles were immediately impounded at Zambia Customs until our work permits were officially completed. (Our plea that we needed the vehicles to go to Lusaka to get the permits did no good.) Wednesday morning we made the difficult 7 hour drive to Lusaka (with the help of our South African friend Jan), only to find that they had sent our work permits to Livingstone in February! We returned to Livingstone at 1 a.m., and a few hours later collected our work permits. Just before closing today, Customs finally cleared our vehicles. So we are now legal residents of Zambia with legal vehicles - this is NO SMALL miracle! We are mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically exhausted. There has not been a moment's rest in almost 2 weeks. We need to rest and recharge in every way, but don't know when that will be possible. In spite of it all, our wives and children are doing remarkably well - testimonies to God's sustaining grace. I'll tell the story in more detail later. At this point, we don't know when we'll make it out to see Dominic and the villages - there's lots of work just to get settled here. Thanks for your prayers, and may our Lord bless you with peace that passes understanding. In His Hands, Sean |

A brief email update from the Reeces in Africa:
Dear Brothers,
Well, the Reeces have arrived in Africa! And yes, ALL our luggage arrived too - amazing! Both airlines (American and British Air) let my one overweight bag slide without the $45 fee.
Our second day layover in London was spent sightseeing near Big Ben and touring Westminster Abbey. We were given a personal escort to David Livingstone's tomb since that area was closed in preparation for a concert. Brothers, if any of you have to overnight in London, you MUST check out the Highbury Centre which was recommended to us. What a place of refuge and rest for weary travelers.
The second flight was as pleasant as the first, and I couldn't be happier with our girls being first time flyers. God has given incredible grace - I don't feel nervous or afraid at all. There is quiet peace, tired excitement, and the occasional shock when I realize again that we're here to stay. We're still fighting the last remnants of jet-lag, but tomorrow we should be mostly adjusted. Then Friday we head off to finalize gear and load vehicles for the big drive.
We love and miss you all, and can feel your prayers.
In His hands, Sean

We would like to share briefly what the Lord has done on our behalf in the past month to get us to Zambia. Just yesterday we received an email from our brother, Pastor Michael B. of Trinity Baptist Church, Livingstone, Zambia. He sent scans of our notices of approval for work permits from the Department of Immigration. We finally have the official green light to go! Pastor Michael will meet us at the border with papers as we drive north from South Africa with our families (and vehicles, etc.)
