Hello Family,
Well, God appears to be stirring it up out there in the bush. Here are some highlights: Dom told us on this last visit that the "preachers" and leaders in the New Apostolic Cult and Seventh Day Adventist cult are getting upset with us - they are jealous and afraid that they will begin losing members to the Bible study group with the whites (us). One guy, who is on the work crew of seven (they've been doing some work on the land for us), is SDA and he told our other friend Vincent, "Yeah the SDA people ignore whole passages of scripture and just pretend that they are not there!" Sean and I gave Dom and Vincent copies of Seeking God by Jim Ellif and a booklet on baptism also by Jim Ellif. Vincent, who comes from a Catholic background, told me that the chapter on infant baptism was very helpful form him and now he can see the truth clearly on that issue. He let the SDA man (mentioned above) borrow the book and read the same chapter. The man came back and told Vincent, "This is a very troublesome book!" And Vincent responded, "No, this is the truth, this is the good way." He reasoned with the man using scripture and the man was persuaded to see that the scripture was indeed true and that infant baptism does not save anyone. Praise the Lord. The man says he wants to begin coming to the Bible study group. Also, Nduna Ilwendo's son, Elvis, has been working alongside Vincent for days now on this building project on the land. He said to Vincent, "I've been watching those men (us) for some time now. I think I want to ask them some questions about the Bible." Vincent told him, "No don't be afraid. Those men would be happy to talk with you." Vincent says that he thinks Elvis will also join the Bible study group. There may be six of them coming on the bus to Livingstone on Saturday to attend a regional conference that our church is hosting Sunday through Tuesday. These men will be staying in our homes. Dom, Vincent, Morris, Dom's cousin Dominic (from Makanda), Evans (from Makanda), and hopefully Joseph. Please pray for these guys that they might see the Gospel clearly and be set on fire with passion and zeal for Christ. I'm tellin' you, there are tons of young men everywhere. We were all discussing that on the way home. So many who are curious and eager to hear truth. What is God doing? What if God snatches all of them up? Can you imagine? That would change a whole culture! Pray, pray, pray. They need eyes to see and ears to hear and hearts that are alive and responsive. Finally, today may be a special day for celebration. The water tanks are up on the shed roofs and they may be connected to the house lines today. If that happens that means that when the public water is shut off it won't affect us at all - we'll still have water! Wow! Amazing. Well, that's all for now. It's actually quite cool. It feels like October in Missouri. There's a fall chill in the air. It's brisk. We're all wearing sweaters, sweatshirts and jackets. Love you all,
